Hey all, I'm new here. What's the best free or inexpensive web authoring software? Can I use OpenOffice to create sites or it this a bad way to go?

Probably bad. Use a plain text editor. Lots of free ones around.

Oh did I mention I don't know how to code so it would kinda have to be one of the WYSIWYG editors.

You could learn. We'll help! smile.gif

KompZer is often recommended. It's supposed to write valid HTML. But valid isn't all, and from what I've seen I don't think it does much better than the other WYSIWYGs out there, but I could be wrong.

Kool, thanks, I had tried using Nvu for a day or 2 but it seemed buggy. I'm gonna give Komposer a try.

They are the same, or KompoZer builds on Nvu. Not sure how it is, but they are bound to be similar.

The Komposer website claims that it aims to corrects the bugginess on Nvu. Bug being the last thing you want to deal with especially if your a newb.

I use EditPad free version, it's small and call and fast and well-equipped.
