Hey everyone. Just looking for a little help with something I'm playing with. My myspace page looks differently in Firefox and IE. Have a look at my myspace page using both browsers to see what I'm talking about.

In Firefox the "General" section and all the text below it spans 100% of the table, while in IE it's closer to 50% of the avaliable width. Let me know if you might be able to help me out. Thanks alot.

I have no idea, but i'm interested to know how does one go about designing a myspace page. I mean is a lot of it supplied by them, and you have to work within that template?

No offense but the myspace pages I've seen (and these include people I know) are a real mess from a layout perspective. i mean i think it's a real neat page you have, but with all that complicated coding it doesn't surprise me that there are differences between good browsers and IE.

jeez the validator shows over 500 errors! Granted a lot of them are missing alt tags, but still . . . and of those how many are myspace and how many are yours?

Your only allowed to make certain changes on myspace. i'm not nearly good enough to make a really advanced page, because you have to know how to modify the stuff you don't have access to and blah blah. Go check it out.

Designing a page is pretty simple, but most people get carried away and do all sorts of stupid stuff. Myspace starts you off with a template, and you can just start throwing in HTML and CSS. The whole point is to express personality rather than look professional, but I can't stand the crazy glittery crap most people use. I tried keeping mine relatively simple.

Using a validator it would make sense that the code is all screwed up, because you have to work "within" the page they give you.

I'll check back tomorrow to see if anyone has any advice. In the mean time, thanks alot for taking the time to have a look.

Certain things work and others don't. for instance you can add styles, but some things are not allowed it seems. And certain non-standard rules apply to many things you might want to do.

Anyway it looks like your page is not near as simple as you might think.

Well a page with nothing on it generates nearly 200 errors, so I think it's safe to say there are going to be layout problems with various browsers . . . but I guess that isn't really the point at myspace.com now iis it??
