Im using a little webserver, for stats on my game. I need a way to have it automaticly make links to each of the players stats, there all in the same folder, and are a .txt format. Would there be any way to have it do this?

But how would i get it to search for a filename and open it? |

Is there a web page associated with all this? Where is it? Can you give us an URL (starting http://...) ? |

You can have a server side script create links to all files in a directory. You can find such scripts at for example http://hotscripts.com . If you don't need to have something fancy, you could configure your server to list files when the URL to a directory is called up (if your server supports this, but I would think most do). Like this.

And with the search, heres what i ment. i added a search button on the index.html page, its in the folder where all the stat files are. How would i get it to search for a specific file? |

I don't know. I don't know what your search button really is and I don't know what server you use.

Partly. I can see it's a FrontPage search thing. I'm afraid I can't help you with that, but maybe someone else can.
Why can't you just tell us what server you use and what you have available server-side? Like PHP, ASP... |

The only server I can find called QuickWeb is a proxy server, not a web server.

Yes, but I can't find any information about it, if it isn't the proxy. I don't want to install it just to find out. Sorry.

You can't do it with HTML. It must be done server-side and since we can't find out either how your servers works or if it comes with any scripting languages it's sort of a dead end.
If you run this server on your own machine, as it sounds like you do, you may be able to use Windows scripting or some other windows program that can grab the file names and produce a static HTML page, but I don''t know of any that you can run out of the box. Maybe there is one, don't know. I could do it with the scripting language my text editor uses, but there is a learning curve so that's not what you are looking for. |

No, I don't think they can do it. I assume you want this thing to update at least now and then? There will be changes to the files? If you just want it don't once and that's it, then maybe they can do it. I have neither of them so I can't say. See if one of them can create links to more than one file at the time.

Either of what? How do you normally create a link to a file if you don't type it by hand? Can you drag files to the program(s) and they create a link or can use use some meny command and browse to the file?
What do I use for HTML or what server? A text editor and Apache. |
