I am having trouble saving html code in Notepad, as it strips line feeds and some white space, jamming lines together in unexecutable code.
Particularly, a PHP call running into an include() function statement continued to save incorrectly upon multiple attempts to re-insert a space and line feed. What editor should I try to avoid this or is there a methodology that I'm missing in using Notepad. I was recommended Notepad++ on another forum and it worked once, but did not upon an additional try. I was recommended Wordpad, which seems to work, but I have to force the file type, which is not intuitively offered in the file type saving form feed fields. Can anyone explain to me what is happening with the faulty code stripping saves in Notepad~? |

I don't think Notepad strips anything. Are you talking about line breaks you make with the keyboard or the HTML tag BR?

Maybe it's the FTP program (or its settings) that causes this? Compare http://www.editpadpro.com/tricklinebreak.html
In any case there are lots of good text editors, just try them and see which one(s) you prefer. |

None of them should strip anything though. I forgot to ask when and where you notice this has happened. Surely not when you save the file and still view it in Notepad?
