I'm trying to make the text of the first dropdown option italic with a font color of silver. In the code below, the font color works correctly. However, the italic style does not. Is italic supported in dropdowns?

<select>
<option value = 't1'> 1 </option>
<option style='font-style: italic; color: silver;' value = 't2'> 2 </option>
<option value = 't3'> 3 </option>
</select>

By some browsers, not by others.

Thanks for the info. I have tested on IE7, Chrome and Firefox. All do not render italic.

According to http://www.electrictoolbox.com/style-selec...up-options-css/ it should work in Chrome and FF but it doesn't. Maybe it's best just to leave font-style alone!

For me it works in FF but not in Iron (should be the same as Chrome). Maybe the support differs between minor versions.

Style away - just don't depend on it working.
