Told you so. tongue.gif

Yes, everyone knew it had to do with some rule. biggrin.gif It also turned out to be the very last thing I tried. Why would it work with margin-left and not padding-left? Who knows.

I missed that (that Christian told you so). Or I guess I saw it and when I came back I had forgotten about it.

But WHY does this happen? What's the connection between padding and the text on the button? It isn't that it gets to cramped or anything like that. The button won't depress with a short text either.

In case anyone is interested, I got a response from Mozilla. Seems the built-in forms.css file has a 1px shift in padding when you hover. Actually, there is a 6px padding setting on normal controls and the hover has a 7px padding setting which makes the 1px shift.

They never said it was a bug but I should remember this in the future

Well, they sent me 2 sections. 1 for normal state and 1 for hover state. I think that 1px shift during hover is enough to stop the text from shifting (depress).

To be honest, after getting some sleep, I'm not sure I agree with the Mozilla people. I mean, why did the Reset button depress like it should but not the Submit button? My brain hurts. biggrin.gif Anyway, the problem is fixed so I'm going to take some aspirin.
