I am currently working on a site in which I would like to have a pop up warning message appear advising the user to update their browser, if the browser currently in use does not meet a set of minimum criteria. I have an intermediate level of knowledge in HTML/CSS and no clue where to start.

Popups require javascript. That said, sniffing for browsers is a bad idea: http://htmlhelp.com/feature/art2.htm and also unreliable: http://www.quirksmode.org/js/support.html --it's much better to create the site using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_enhancement but it's hard to give general advice on how to do that without seeing the site in question.

Thanks for the links, I will look them over. The issue I am running into is that the site in question does not return any Browser Compatibility issues within DreamWeaver CS5 and functions correctly on my Mac, however when viewed on my PCs, the navigation is aligned incorrectly. Without an error message to narrow down the issue, I'm really not sure how to troubleshoot. I thought a pop up might be an easier way to remind users to update their browsers just in case thats the problem. The site in question may be found at http://www.blazingblueband.com |

For more clarification, the navigation functions correctly on my Mac running Firefox and Safari. The navigation is incorrect on my PC running Firefox and IE.

Seems the page has been changed (and fixed?) while I was looking at it? |

Are you giving away free money? Because the chance of people hurrying off to upgrade their browser because a site tells them to isn't that big for a normal site. It's more likely you alienate them.
It sounds like you have fixed the problem though. A much better solution. |

Seems the page has been changed (and fixed?) while I was looking at it? I was able to figure it out. Thanks Christian for checking back. It was a CSS issue that I didn't realize was there until I resized my window. |
