Hi I was wondering if someone can help me.

I have an embedded flash player with a playlist on my site. On that page there is a hyperlink to the home site which opens in a _blank window so the music continues to play.

The problem is on the Home page there is a link to the embedded mp3 player page. So when the link is pressed another page with the embedded mp3 player opens and begins to play, causing overlapping audio.

Is there a command like: If open than hyperlink to home page. or open the embedded page's tab full screen?

I hope that all made sense lol

Thank you for your time.

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.

I use target: foo rather than target:_blank for similar situations. I'm told it's not strictly "kosher" but it does ensure that the page with the "foo" target will only open in one window. However, it will refresh. So - you'd still have the problem of the music restarting. Not as bad as an overlap - but not ideal.

There is a way to have your media player disengage from the rest of the site, with it's own small window. I've done it with a JScript player, but not flash, and I don't know if there is a difference.

Hopefully someone else will know and can point you to instructions on how.

A link to your site may help someone help you more.

Thank you for replying UptonGirl

I tried the target:_foo method but was unable to fix the kinks that come along with it.

The refresh actually just causes the mp3 that is playing to just miss a beat. I would be completely satisfied if that was just the case.

The problem is either the home.html and the mp3.html is stuck in tab mode forcing the user to chose a tab or the target_foo principle becomes eliminated.

What I mean is as follows:

1) Home.html hyperlinks to mp3.html using target_foo

This causes mp3.html to open and Home.html to be placed in a tab. Now theres a link to Home.html there which results in having Home.html open again. To prevent multiple incidences of this I issued a target_foo hyperlink to Home.html which results in forcing the user to chose a tab. Not to mention having a Home.html tab existing from step 1

Ive tried the Close window command on Home.html and the hyperlink Back Button command on mp3.html. This and other random things. I just haven't been able to figure it out just yet.

I'll check back soon, in the mean time I'm gonna try to figure this out.

Thank you once again.

oh I almost forgot. I really prefer not to have a floating mp3 player, to me it just gets in the way of the other pages, even though it may be able to minimize to the task bar. Also I can't really give you the address to my site because I'm the Host and my IP# changes day by day because I unplug my dsl modem when I shut down my computer. Basically my friends call and ask me for the new IP#. I plan to change this method sometime soon. If it weren't for them I wouldn't even apply this feature. My initial goal was just to allow them to upload things to me and download things, but now it seems that I'm adding more and more things lol.
