hello everyone.

i'm brand new here and am working on a website. while browsing a found a site that had a very neat random image loading capability. while i am not copying their design, i would love to incorporate this particular bit of script. unfortunately, looking over their source and their .css sheet and their main .js file is showing nothing.

for the life of me i cannot figure out how they are getting the images to randomize.

their site is: The Site

if you press F5 you'll notice the image stream changes each time.

the link to the person's stylesheet is: The Stylesheet

and their "box" .js is located here: The Script

can anyone tell me how this randomization is happening?

thanks in advance.

Seems to be a server-side script. Which one to use depends on what your webhost supports, otherwise I'd recommend PHP.

It could be done with JavaScript as well.

P.S. It's called JavaScript. Java is a whole other programming language.

I told you I was new. biggrin.gif

But thank you very much. I thought I was going insane. I'm not very savvy when it comes to the raw creation of code. I tend to borrow bits and pieces from place to place and then incorporate things into designs I test out. I really like this randomization because its very very clean. Is there a place I can go to find bits of script that would allow this?

Also, I do have PHP support I believe (to the first responder), my hosting package seems to always have what I need. I'm with Midphase.

any help is appreciated. (also, is this in the correct forum? i posted it in two but the other one seems to have vanished)

I hid the other thread so we don't get duplicates. This forum seemed more appropriate since the site you linked to used a server-side script, otherwise maybe the General Web design forum could work, if you don't know which kind of technology to use.
