I built a free webspace page with a template provided by the hosting provider (www.Shaw.ca)
The template has the ability to insert videos and play them.

http://johnnycashtribute.shawwebspace.ca/

However, because it is a webspace page/site, it can't be sumitted to the various search engines to be found. So we paid the same host for a website. They assured me that I could put videos and audio on the new site, using the templates provided. After spending a great deal of time building the site (I am new at this), I found that none of their templates have that capability.

http://www.johnnycashtribute.ca

Their tech people (who were surprised to learn that their paid for site's templates don't do audio or video - won't help at all) told me the only way to put the videos on the new site is to FTP them from the old webspace page and using HTML add them to the new site (I made a Music Videos page already).

Can anyone help? I am absolutely lost. I also need to add audio files to the site (songs by the band).

I don't even know where to begin.

Why not? I can go there so so can Google.

That's how it's done. Upload the movies and embed them with HTML. I don't understand what you mean this template should do?

Yes, you can go to the webspace page (the first url) but if you search for johnnycashtribute or anything else to do with the website, you will never find it listed at any search engine, no matter how hard you try. We submitted/registered it with all of the search engines but it won't come up when you search for Big River, Johnny Cash, Tribute Band,etc. Webspace pages are apparently handled differently.

The second site, which is a real website, does come up when you search for any of the terms I listed. I didn't build either site from scratch (by using HTML, etc). The host provided templates and a wizard that walked me through everything. It had everything set up, I just typed in my text and added my photos.

I need instructions made for dummies as to how to upload the movies and embed them with HTML. The movies are uploaded on the first site (I did that) but I need to move them to the second site and don't know how to do that or even where to begin.

Copy the markup used at the first page.

I recalled we had a guy whose free webhost did nasty things with robots.txt, but there isn't any.

Since the video files are already on the webhosting site, and need to be transferred from the webspace page
http://johnnycashtribute.shawwebspace.ca/videos/

to the website, http://www.johnnycashtribute.ca/Videos.html

can someone tell me what portion of the following to copy and paste to the new website (http://www.johnnycashtribute.ca/Videos.html)html?

I copied and pasted the whole thing which did get one video (I Walk the Line) to work on the new site but it messed everything else up.

I really am confused, lost, overwhelmed, etc. I spent hours yesterday researching how to do this but since I really don't understand the terms/language, it is like trying to understand Greek (and I don't know Greek). Help!

This.

HTML
<object width="448" height="336" style="z-index:1">
<param name="movie" value="http://videomail.shaw.ca/messages/swf/22980056817-1274250665-39728/afs/"></param>
<param name="wmode" value="opaque"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<embed style="z-index:1" src="http://videomail.shaw.ca/messages/swf/22980056817-1274250665-39728/afs/" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="448" height="336" wmode="opaque" allowFullScreen="true"></embed>
</object>

Since you use a full URL (http://...) you can use that as it is and keep the flash file at your old site, provided you plan to keep that site up. Your host may have taken means to prevent hotlinking though, in which case the movie won't show up on your other site.

You can't move the file from site to site. If you don't have a local copy you can use, you need to first download it from your old site to your HD and then upload it to the new site.
