HTMLHelp Forums _ General Web Design _ Photos Not Displaying

Posted by: kchadek May 23 2010, 01:24 PM

Hi, I'm new to the forum and to website design so I have an issue that came up.

I remade a website for a club I'm in on Dreamweaver. The old site was posted using netfiles, it is free with our school so thats just what was used> Anyway I remade the entire site and was able to go into netfiles and replace the old index with the new one and now it shows up fine online except for the pictures.
The pics worked fine when previewing the site on Dreamweaver so I think I have to copy those files onto netfiles. One person told me to try and recreate my computer on netfiles by having folders named exactly as on my cp, but that didnt work.

So hopefully someone on here can help me out or point me in the direction of where I can find some help.
Thank you

See http://htmlhelp.com/faq/html/images.html#broken-image . If you need more help, you have post the URL to the page.

Here is the url of the site if thats what you mean. That other info I just don't know how to use, being new to website designs.
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~pball/

Are you sure you have uploaded the images? Where did you put them?

As you have written the URLs in the IMG tags, the browser looks for them in this folder http://www.tc.umn.edu/images/ . That folder doesn't exist, and I don't think you meant to refer to a folder outside your account. But http://www.tc.umn.edu/~pball/images/ doesn't exist either. Neither do I find the images in the main folder, http://www.tc.umn.edu/~pball/ . So, where are they?

I think I can add the images wherever they need to be.

So on netfiles I find pball. I then have a file name web docs. That folder contains all of the html's.

So do I have to make another folder in a specific location for the pics?

That's up to you. You can put them wherever you want, but the URL in the IMG tag must lead to that location.
