Is a new template I am trying out (the links will take you to the original (but modified still) website. So only look at this page. The last... idk, 25% of the displayable area to the right of the template is just wasted space. I am using a 22" monitor with a high resolution, but on a computer with 1024x768, the space on the right (although smaller in comparison) still exists. I would have expected the 1024 layout to fill that screens page entirely. I understand at higher resolutions there will probably always be extra space on either(or right) sides. But at smaller resolutions shouldnt it fill the entire page up? What else can I do, to try to obtain the desired effect?

Looking at the document structure in Chrome, it seems the specification of "width: 100%" for div.mynavbar is causing the problem.

The widths in the table don't add up either. The whole table is 1024 pixels, then the first column i also 1024 pixels and so on. You also need to do some general housekeeping.
