Which engine version would you recommend for K-Meleon?

Seems Pale Moon (that I already have) uses Goanna as well.

Goanna. If for no other reason because it's more up to date. Many sites don't work with the official release and it's been that way a long time.

Downside is that the Goanna version lacks some of the menu commands that are cool to have. For instance those that involve style sheets are gone. No easy way to disable CSS in that version. Possibly some of that can be made available through the config files, but there's no documentation and the forum discussions seem to be for the already involved. I don't have the stamina to ask for help and information there. The community isn't end user orientated, so to speak. They aren't unfriendly, more that they assume you are involved and know your way around, developer or super user. I'm neither, so...

Is there no support for addons to do such things?

Well, for just that there has never been any need since it's built in in the official version. Back in the day there was a bunch of other addons though and also instructions about how to do neat stuff with the config files. I was quite into that, tried to learn the ropes. But that's all gone now. I guess the possibility is there for those that are in the know.

I think their biggest mistake, apart from being too slow with releases, is that they aren't more user centric. The browser is good and it offers things that other browsers no longer do. They could get a dedicated following if they just reached out a little.

I went to the site and realized the goanna version is officially *it* now. It isn't clear to me though if it's still a "third party" project or if the k-mel team is now developing it? Or has the team all gone home? If they are behind it, why don't they put it on the front page along with the older versions instead of just linking to a forum thread?

I upgraded to the latest goanna version and now my local newspaper's site gives me blank pages. Except the front page that still works. It was fine with the older goanna. Groan. I'm feeling old browser war vibes. ninja.gif
