Okay, so I know absolutely nill about Dreamweaver 8.
I'm well acquainted with computers though, very much into graphics designing (Adobe Photoshop, CoralDRAW, etc), but as far as webdesigning is concerned, I only the the very basics of MS Frontpage (sucks hey ). I searched for some tutorials and help files, but it didn't quite offer the help that I require. What I need to know is if it'll be possible to create a WebBlog (similar to Xanga, LiveJournal, etc), with Marcromedia Dreamweaver 8? I wanted to create a personal online diary. Basically, just a site where I could add regulary diary entries, including the date, etc. Simple interface. I don't even need to upload it online. Any help you dreamweaver geeks (uh... fundis, I mean. lol) can offer me? Thanks in advance peeps! - Myriam info@goldencreations.co.za |

Web blogs and similar things require server-side scripts (PHP or similar) that save the changed content permanently. Not sure how much you can customize an existing such script with DW. You can't run server-side programs offline unless you install a server program (Apache or similar) on your own computer.
OTOH you might use DW (or any HTML editor) to make all daily content changes, just like you'd write any ordinary page. |

Only if you need the bells end whistles. Nothing stops you form manually creating daily entries. You have to do the typing anyway, so I don't see how a few Ps and a heading make it more cumbersome.

Then, since you use it, simply read the manual that comes with it and/or search the online DW knowledge base at Adobe.

Are you mad? I do this for fun!
Jokes aside, I suspect DW has many useful features (that I've only heard of, of course). There's more to it than the Design View anyway. But it isn't for me. Don't like bulky software, me. I'd rathar use different tools for different jobs. |

Are you mad? I think you already know the answer to that. QUOTE I do this for fun! I'm paying my debt to society! Also I've been asked to make "templates" for clients that want to do their own future updates with DW, but who knows how DW will mess up my exquisite coding? |

For serious offenses only a computer (Windows) will do.

First, we should use DM just to be able to talk to younger generations
And seriously, speaking from my experience, it is hard to learn both DM and html/css at the same time (and I speak from Fortran to C). I think it's better to open some decent text editor and go step by step. |
