HTMLHelp Forums _ General Web Design _ How to Have Forum posts Show on Homepage?

Posted by: foreverloved Oct 3 2010, 06:17 PM

A lot of websites with forums have their homepage show the posts from a News section on their homepage. I assume this automatically updates as a new post is made in the given section. I'm wondering how I can go about setting that up in Dreamweaver.

Here are some examples of what I'd like to achieve:
www.aftermathlb.com
http://bloodlegion.com/wow/
http://www.vodka-guild.net/

Can anybody explain or point to a guide that would help me?

How are you generating your home page? Is it a static HTML document, or is it generated by a program that could extract data from your forum?

I'm building it in Dreamweaver and the forum is phpBB3.

I can't imagine that DW will be of any direct help. You have to read enough of the phpBB documentation to work out how to call the right function. FWIW, I hoped to do the same thing, and had a go at it, but the documentation did not appear to me to be very helpful. Perhaps there is separate developer documentation, but I had no luck finding it.
