Hi again
I have a site located here which includes a menu. Nothing difficult yet. The menu displays exactly as it should when looking at the code in dreamweaver but when uploaded, it breaks and the menu format displays incorrectly. The page also "judders" when the mouse is moved over the menu. BTW I should add that the menu is meant to display on a single horizontal line and upon hovering over "contracts" a further dropdown horizontal menu should appear. Load the files attached into dreamweaver and you will see exactly how I need it to look. Load it into your browser to see what it actually looks like... Can anyone see what I have done wrong? Thanks Ian This post has been edited by Pluribus: Aug 23 2012, 02:54 PM Attached File(s) menutest.zip ( 45.39k ) Number of downloads: 125 |

OK. What exactly is wrong with it? It's hard to judge when the page is so unfinished, but nothing looks remarably odd to me. No judder either.

Hi Pandy
In dreamweaver, the menu looks like this: When you hover over the "contracts" button, a horizontal dropdown appears such as below (as above, a screenshot from dreamweaver): Unfortunately when its loaded onto the server it looks like this: Moving the mouse over the empty space between "contracts" and "contact us" causes it to judder like an epileptic on speed... I also tested it on a friends server with the same result. Ian |

I checked with a couple of browsers and for me it actually displays as in image 1. No dropdown though.
You have some structural errors and also CSS errors that need fixing. See if that helps before we dig deeper. With a little luck this will make a difference. http://www.htmlhelp.com/cgi-bin/validate.c...p;input=yes#L35 http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validat...ng=&lang=en |

Ok, after a few hours of trial and error there are now no css errors and the only html validation error is because the validator cant see the <li> in the include file. I'm choosing to ignore it as it is in the include file.
Now, instead of this: I see this: I still dont have the dropdown... Suggestions??? Updated files attached. Ian This post has been edited by Pluribus: Aug 23 2012, 08:41 PM Attached File(s) test2.zip ( 49.81k ) Number of downloads: 104 |

I'm choosing to ignore it as it is in the include file. That it may be, but it isn't the only the validator that can't see it. Neither can browsers. The document is never parsed for SSI. I guess the server isn't configured to parse .html files, just .shtml . |
