I'm trying to put together a portfolio site, and it just so happens that this site views perfectly in Safari, but the site header is somewhere in the top of the screen in Firefox, and the borders around the links are blue.

How do I fix this?

First you ensure that browsers are in Standards Mode instead of in Quicks Mode by adding an apropriate doctype.

Then you validate the HTML
http://htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/
and check the CSS for errors.
http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

Please ask if there's something you don't understand in the validators' output. smile.gif

The errors that the validator found are the elements that are working properly.

I'm having problems with the header, but the validator didn't mention any errors.

Since this is a style issue, should I be posting this question in CSS?

How do you know? The page is still in Quirks Mode since you have no doctype. That ensures the greatest number of browser discrepancies possible.

Read that page. You don't have to understand everything it says, just grasp why the doctype is important for how the page displays.
