 HTML Code Help - Where is my header section! |

Hi,
I am a teacher and have made a website for our school so we did not have to spend money on paying for one! The website is finished and we are happy with it. I feel the HTML code is a mess though - I think some of the code is redundant. My question though is this - I need to verify the site and Google have asked me to Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site's home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section. My problem is I can't find where the header and body sections are! The code you posted is not complete. You are missing a lot of information. If you view your site and right click the mouse, select 'View Source', on an empty section of the page. There you can see the complete HTML source. You should run your pages thru an HTML validator, like the one shown at the top and bottom of each page on this site. Or, you can use the one found here. I ran the home page thru the w3.org site and it found 135 Errors, 52 warning(s) . Some of those errors is because of your use of the quote character '&'. In HTML you should use the HTML entity: '"'. Once you correct the easy errors then you will only be left with the harder ones, which someone here can help you with.

Sorry, I stated a quote problem (maybe that is true somwhere) but it is actually an ampersand problem. You still need to use HTML entities for Quotation marks AND Ampersands. The entities to use should be:
QUOTE Quotation marks = '& q u o t ;' and Ampersands = '& a m p ;' (I added the spaces because this board will convert without the spaces, as seen in my previous post) Sometimes by brain thinks one thing but my fingers type something else. |
