I am trying to use checkboxes in a form so the user can narrow down a list (stored in a text file) to the choices they want.
Any suggestions on how to approach this?

I'm very familiar with programming in Java so I would have no problem making a Java based program to narrow down the list. However I do not know how to do this for a website, should I be using javascript? or forms? or both?

also... How can I find out which ones are checked and create strings containing the value of each of the check boxes?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks
