The code for no bullets in a list is list-style-type : none, right?

That is correct. According to CSS 2.1, the value "none" means no marker.

You're applying the property to div#menuBar but it should be applied to the li elements.

At the page Darin links to it says...
Applies to: elements with 'display: list-item'

You use it with '#menuBar' which matches a DIV. A DIV isn't a list-item. You must use it with the list. '#menuBar ul' or '#menuBar li'.
