Which Computer Programming Courses or Books do you recommend? Options

I am taking my 1st ever Computer Programming Course this summer, it is a C++ class and I am picking this up pretty fast. I never did any type of programming besides HTML, CSS, and a little JavaScript, but I am liking this Computer Programming stuff a lot.

I notice that the colleges seem to be more interested in offering Computer Programming classes, as opposed to Web Programming classes. I'm thinking that career wise I should take more of these classes, and read more of these books.

Any recommendations after C++?

I am thinking about:
Java
C
C#

then maybe later on:
Python

I still wanna do Web Programming classes too, but creating these programs in C++ is awesome so far.

I also would like recommendations on good books on JavaScript and Responsive Web Design if anyone knows of any.

After C++, I'd go for Java, then Python.

Thanks, my plan was to take Java next. I'll read up on Python, I always see Python and Java for job openings.

Regarding JavaScript I think Flanagan still is *the* book. It's more of a reference book than a step by step tutorial.

I read it partly, or rather skimmed it, when it was new. I liked it and meant to read it thoroughly but... So thanks for the reminder!

If my memory serves me right it's neither a reference nor a tutorial. It's more guidelines, best practices, useful tips even if it does go through basic concepts. So maybe not the first book you should read, but one definitely worth reading, sort of puts things right. Again, if my memory serves me... and nothing says it does.

Thanks for the book suggestions, I will check out the Flanagan one after I have learned the basics of JavaScript.

But I am loving C++ so far and learning it fast, I might have to make that a priority over Web Programming.

I would recommend you to learn Java after C++ as they are mostly learned one after another.
