Ok, this is going to sound a bit odd but I was wondering if it was possible to code a drop down list of options that would display one line of text for use as an online status box.
Here's the thing though, it would need to only be a drop down box to the author and therefore only able to be changed by the author, everyone else would see what ever was selected. Am I making sense in what I want to try to create? As background to why I want it I play an online game where you're either logged in or your not, but I tend to be logged in all day but sometimes doing other things. There is nowhere to leave a message as such and to edit my main profile would be time consuming as it's stored on freewebs and I'd have to go in and alter the code each time I wanted to say whether I was playing or just popping in and out of the game. If I could display a box on the profile that could just be altered by using the drop down and would let everyone know what I was doing that would rock. So, is it possible? |

Freewebs don't offer any server side languages, do they? Because that's what you would need. A dropdown list, or any other form element, is just the HTML interface. The HTML form doesn't do anything by itself. The script behind it does.

Right, I have webspace that I use for a personal website with my broadband package, would that be able to do it - yes, I'm aware of how little I understand!
