They is no "best plugin" but i'd prob start with some essentials such as Wordfence and loginizer for brute force protection and prevent hacking, make sure you also have a strong password.

Many users also get the jetpack plugin as that contains many plugins all in one for you to configure.

A caching plugin is also useful to speed up your website such as w3 cache and Smush Image Compression and Optimisation.
