If someone loads a page which includes javascript and / or active X conntrols and they have those options turned off, is there a way to alert them to the fact that they are not seeing the page as designed and to provide them with an easy one-click option to turn java/active x on?
Thanks. |

See NOSCRIPT - Non-script Content in our HTML 4 reference.and to provide them with an easy one-click option to turn java/active x on? No. That is a browser setting that the author cannot control.Besides, ActiveX works only on MSIE, and anyone who uses MSIE and has disabled it, probably won't reenable it for any site. |

An "alternative"? One of my harmless scripts is a digital clock - not harmless and what's an alternative to a clock? Maybe a non-script clock? Not sure how you can speak for "anyone" else who uses MSIE regarding 're-enabling' though. This post has been edited by dsp: Jan 7 2007, 08:56 PM |

QUOTE what's an alternative to a clock? I've already got a clock. It displays on my taskbar.QUOTE Not sure how you can speak for "anyone" else who uses MSIE regarding 're-enabling' though. Perhaps. But my thought is that anyone who has disabled it probably did so based on security concerns, and is unlikely to reenable it just because some random web site was designed to depend upon it. |
