I'm having a hard time finding the correct terminology for the tape of links along the top of these results: https://www.google.com/search?q=colleges+in+indiana

I'm trying to find out why some schools are included and some are not, in inspecting the code of the pages included and those not I can't find significant differences. Any ideas? Are rich results or carousel even the right terms?

Had to enable javascript to see that... I know nothing about this, but it seems "carousel" is the correct term, and possibly Google's "Knowledge Graph" affects wether a site is included or not.
