Hello,

I just finished up on my web design site. I'm trying to provide web design and search engine optimization for the kentucky (mainly bowling green), and tennessee (mainly nashville) areas. If you could, please review my site and tell me what you think regarding:

aesthetics

search engine optimization

user friendliness

Thank you so much!

Hello, tell me what you think regarding:

aesthetics

I think it looks very professional . . . nice and clean. You should however clean up the validation errors. You should also think whether you really want to set your doctype as XHTML.
QUOTE

user friendliness

It seems very easy to navigate and understand. I like the nice simple navigation and overall design.

search engine optimization

I think this is something to be careful with in regards to your claims. It is a dicey area, especially with all the links back to yourself at the bottom. See this page

Thanks, Jim. I really do know that SEO is a very hit and miss area, and you can do everything right and still have no search results, but I usually don't take on projects involving extremely competitive keywords, so most the time it's doable. Regarding the links at the bottom, is this bad SEO practice? I've never done this before and just thought all the cross links in my site may help with my relevance, will I get penalized for this?

Thank you for the help.

Hello kentuckywebdesign;

Not entirely certain where to start, but ... first of all I would recommend, strongly, that you shift to HTML 4.01 Strict as there are no real requirements, or benefits, from using XHTML in this case - in particularly not when sent as text/html. I can recommend Quick XHTML and to a lesser extent Sending XHTML as text/html Considered Harmful for a further discussion of that topic.

Secondly, it is -very- important to review your code. You have a distinct lack of paragraph and header tags in the right places - the way 'Company News' is marked up is an excellent example: instead of using a P and a STRONG, use a styled H2. This will increase accessibility, usability, and your SE rankings.

Thirdly, you are lacking a number of ALT texts - which are extremely important to accessibility, and will also have an impact if search engines use this information - they can't read images. You also seem to have atleast one ("End Image") where an alt="" would be more appropriate.

Good work so far, but I strongly suggest you look over your code.

on your CONTACT PAGE ... i think it would be better if you put the content on the center ...

and your menu text .. i think better if you put it on BOLD .. make a highlight of it ...

make your logo a favicon ..

Great website. I like the clean-looking images and the easy-to navigate layout. One thing you could do is work on those links at the bottom. They all lead back to your site, and there are lots of them. These can be a bit annoying and possibly confuse visitors.
