Hi, hoping someone can help me out.
I've designed and sliced up a site in photoshop and save for web including html page. I opened it in dreamweaver to apply other links, etc. Everything was running well and it previewed on safari (i'm on mac) perfect. I uploaded to server and still everything was fine, i also checked on firefox and mac version IE. But when viewed on windows IE some slices have jumped out of position and thick lines have appeared on almost all pages. I've checked on numerous other machines and it only happens on windows explorer. I've tried redoing the whole slicing process but still same problem. Does anyone know why its doing this? Hope someone can help me out coz i'm already a week late on uploading this site Site is: www.cloudandpupa.com I've searched on the forum and looked at the 'FAQ for different browser issues' but there doesn't seem to be anything to help me out. Just to mention, I've used tables for this site. I'm definately going to learn CSS for content, there just seems to be so many problems with tables. But unfortunately i'm already a week late in uploading this site, won't have time to learn and redo. Any help much appreciated. |

It looks to me like your table structure doesn't match the sliced images. If you turn on table borders, then you'll be able to see what's going on better.
But I recommend that you redesign the site as a web site, rather than as a sliced-up image that has been reassembled with HTML. |

IE for MAC is a mess, or I should say was, since MS stopped developing IE for mac for a good reason and it should stay so. Im seeing many people quickly advise to replicate sliced image/html page using a notepad, which makes me think that not many has actually used slicing features in photoshop. to replicate complex sliced page using notepad will make your fingers bleed and you'd be forced to by a new keyboard. IE for MAC is a mess, or I should say was, since MS stopped developing IE for mac for a good reason and it should stay so. When MSIE/Mac was new, it was a significant improvement over (the then current) MSIE/Win. The problem with MSIE/Mac is that MS hasn't continued development of it, not that there is anything fundamentally wrong with MSIE/Mac.Im seeing many people quickly advise to replicate sliced image/html page using a notepad, which makes me think that not many has actually used slicing features in photoshop. to replicate complex sliced page using notepad will make your fingers bleed and you'd be forced to by a new keyboard. The point isn't to replicate a sliced-image page with hand-written HTML (using Notepad or any other text editor). The point is to write a web page, rather than slicing an image and pretending it's a web page. |

In photoshop when exporting for web theres dropdown menu that lets you select xhtml , use that instead of "default" and it will work with IE. try that.

If that makes a difference it's probably a doctype issue.

thats right, if you tell phtoshop that its for xhtml it'll create compatible html instead of regular one. also if you create java script using DW itll create different script for different doctypes. DW pwns. especially now that all is Adobe PS and DW work much better together.
