Yes, what a hot topic: Bookmarklets.

Without any explanation, what I want to do is set one field of an external website as a variable which I would then feed into my own (php driven) page. How do I do this?

To fill in any some gaps: There is a great running measuring tool (Gmaps Pedometer) which I want to:

1) Use to measure a run
2) Click a bookmark up top
3) This bookmark takes the distance run, stores it temporarily as a variable, and
4) Directs me to my logging page with that number in hand, ready to write to a database.

I'm comfortable with the data storage, logging, and even have messed with the google charts API to get fun graphs out, but what I can't get past is the ripping the "distance run" number out and feeding it to my new page. Any hints?

Thanks!

(Ideally this would stick to Javascript, PHP, HTML, and CSS as that's the only knowledge I have right now)

Alex
