Hi all!

I hope this question isn't too basic. I use an iMac, and every now and then I get websites that advise me that I need to install Flashplayer... is there a quick fix to this that I'm overlooking?

Isn't flash dead?

Since Adobe no longer supports Flash Player after December 31, 2020 and blocked Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021, Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems.

See also https://www.howtogeek.com/700229/adobe-flas...hat-that-means/ .

I confess I haven't uninstalled my flash players and plugins. After reading that again I think maybe I should. It's sad though. I have some flash files saved that I thought was funny and would like to be able to play them. I can't now, since all plugins are based on Adobes player I just get the Blocked Content graphic from them if I try, with for instance Irfan View.

I understand that. But with the spammer's first post gone it looks like I dig old threads up. 😢 tongue.gif

At least you posted a couple of good links, so we forgive you. laugh.gif

Any idea if those Flash alternatives have the same same security issues as Adobe's?

Nope. First time I've heard about them. But one would assume not. Or?

I didn't follow what happened with flash much. But isn't it odd they killed their baby? Was the security issues so grave that they couldn't be fixed? Flash was a pest on the web for a few years, but apart from that I rather liked what could be done with it.

They SAY they are secure... I installed this for FF.
https://ruffle.rs/#downloads

It works for the flash animations I can find on the web, but I can't play my saved files. FF just wants to download them or open them in another application - that can't run them, obviously. I'll try to embed them in a HTML page and see if that helps. But maybe it needs to be over http?

Ah, there is a standalone Windows
version. I didn't read that table too closely. It works.
